After almost three years of construction, five of the six departments of the Institute of Computer Science moved into the new building at the campus "Am Hubland" in fall 1999. The prevailing fragmentation of the institute into five locations and the lack of office and lecture rooms came to an end. On a floor space of 3300 m2, two lecture rooms named after A. Turing and K. Zuse with capacity of 350 persons each, two computer pools, seminar rooms, laboratories, and offices are located. The total building costs amounted to 14 Mio €. The modern computer network in the building provides access to about 700 optical network ports and about 300 additional TP-ports. The network of the institute is connected to the computing center of the university by a 622Mbit ATM link.
